Role and Responsibilities
The florist will be responsible for designing and assembling fresh floral creations—including bouquets, centerpieces, wreaths, and custom displays—for a wide range of events: weddings, anniversaries, funerals, holidays, and corporate functions. Daily duties include consulting with clients to understand their preferences and budget, processing and conditioning fresh flowers to maximize longevity, and maintaining visually appealing in-store displays. The role also involves receiving deliveries, monitoring inventory, and coordinating with delivery teams to ensure timely order fulfillment.
Additional tasks include operating the point-of-sale system, processing transactions, supporting online orders, and contributing to seasonal promotions such as Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day. The florist will also uphold strict workplace safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
Required Skills and Experience
Applicants should have previous experience as a florist or floral designer, though formal certification is considered an advantage. Strong creativity with an eye for color, texture, and design aesthetics is essential, as is a solid knowledge of flower varieties, seasonal availability, and proper care techniques. Excellent customer service and communication skills are a must, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail setting.
Candidates must be comfortable lifting flower boxes and supplies, and willing to work weekends, public holidays, and peak seasons.
